Anyone else?
Ok,
So did anyone else just watch the debate between John Howard and Kevin Rudd? or was i like the only one.
Anyways you should of all watched it, because it does give you more of an insite into what future policies each party is planning. Yes it might be boring to some...but its important!
My overall impressions is this...yes John Howard has been a good prime minister for Australia for his 11 years. But it is time for change. Throughout the debate, he really did seem a little out of touch......i say out of touch....as in in my personal opinion...so thats a very subjective remark. However, he seemed to speak more of past issues and didnt seem to be as direct in policies as Kevin Rudd was when answering questions.
My final thought is that John Howard has helped Australia, he seriously has, as much as some people can argue with that. He has helped the Australian economy and will go down in history as being overall 'good' for Australia.
But its time for change, it really is. So many issues have not been address by the prime minister in his 11 years at office its not funny.
You see, Liberal governments cut everything.....all benefits...they dont invest in infrastructure.....they basically cut all the frills from the economy and get it stable and strong. But you can not keep cutting everything, and 'being in the best economic position' means nothing when you keep raising education fees, dont invest in infrastructure etc.
At some point, you need to invest in the foundations of our society, education being one, environmental concerns being another etc etc. This time the Labour government has clear strategies in these areas, so theoretically it should be better for the country and the future. We wouldnt have SBS if it wasnt for labour.......
Eitherway, its good to get labour in for a bit...maybe 8years or so and then vote them out and let the liberals pick up the mess, its just how politics works....sorry. Remember be an ACTIVE voter....dont just vote liberal or labour because you always do, KNOW their policies........vote on what those policies are....not because your mate votes for them.
THINK....it isnt illegal yet.
Another thing which i heard, which im sure WILL you will hear in the next 2 days in the papers or online, is about channel 9.
FUCKEN CHANNEL 9. The prime minister made rules that the 'worm' (a little graph which appears on the screen during the debate, affected by 'undecided' voters in the crowd) would not be used during this debate. I think thats a fair rule too. Its a very subjective little graph and it also would not help either of the leaders in their debate if they saw a little worm decreasing if they were talking about a certain issue. ANYWAY, CHANNEL 9 still did the worm...they still gave the 'undecided' voters in the crowd little computer things to score the debate.
During the debate, ABC found this out, so they CUT the feed to channel 9 (no fuckin joke) in order to stop the worm. But then CHANNEL 9, pirated the feed from another channel in order to continue.....farkn unbelievable a company would do this. It just shows how farkn pathetic Channel 9 are, or how desperate they are for ratings. It was CLEARLY noted in the rules of the debate the worm should not be used.
FUCK channel 9 and their ethics......this is why commercial tv sucks.......it just shows how fucked up tv has gotten these days.
PEACE.
