back home
Well today i arrived back in cuzco. Took a bus from ica-haucachina at 6am to lima, then a flight form lima to cusco which only took 1hr. Its crazy, would take about 20hrs to get back to cusco from ica on bus, but only an hr by flight. Since we had done 2 overnight buses already we decided to fly back to cusco, it cost 80US ..which is about twice as much as 1st class bus but definately worth it every now and then.
The ica-haucachina place was amazing. Its in the middle of the desert, but then theres an oasis there which is surounded by hostels, pubs, hotels etc. It use to be an old place for the spanish elite but now its full of backpackers. The place we stayed at cost 10bucks per night and was amazing, it had just been built and looked like a 5star resort. Had the best outside area with pool, bar too. The thing is, that it was bloody hot in nazca and ica, so much hotter then i expected. It was like 30degrees during the day, so i got to wear bordies, thongs and a singlet, i was in heaven. Compared to cusco here where righ now (8.30pm) i am wearing 2 jumpers, longpants and merino wool thermal top lol.
Anyways i wish we stayed one more night in ica-haucachina, because it felt like i was on a full holiday. I just layed in the sun all day, drank juice and beer (not together) and lazed around. I just couldnt believe how hot it was! it was like being back in sydney for summer.
The other thing about haucachina were the sand dunes. We went sand boarding which was heaps of fun hahaha. Like this crazy truck took us out to the dunes and we went flying over the dunes and up these inclines which i didnt think we would make up, was all very extremesportish. Sand boarding was cool too, went down a few times like a snowboard, but the best was when a few of us guys had a couple races whilst on our stomaches, u go faster and ....i tell u...its pretty damn quick!!!! Got video footage of it and maybe ill get around to posting that on utube, (cause i got to get it off a mate). After the long day at the dunes we all went back for a swim then went out to a restaruant, and basically this hostel-restaraunt we went too was so chilled. people rollin“ it up in there without any questions. Reminded me of byron or nimbin etc , was relaxed.
The only bugger of a thing was getting up like 6 the next morning with a headache and bussing it to lima (4hrs) to get the 1.55pm flight, but all worth it!!!
Tomorrow i got off to chill so I AM going to post some pictures etc of the trip for all to see, maybe even do that group email i been talking about too.
