Arequipa
Hello,
just at a hostel in arequipa now. We are catching an overnight bus to Nazca in a few hours and staying 2 nights there. We will be flying over the nazca lines hopefully not tomoz but day after which should be sweet.
Here in Arequipa stayed 1 night and then we bussed to the Canyon de Colca, stayed there a night (2nd biggest canyon in the world) and also went and saw the condors soar overhead. They are amazing birds, the heaviest of any bird of flight. They dont actually flap there wings but use these hot air wind currents in the canon to float up and down, its quite breath taking plus they have 4m wing spands...there flippin humungo. Also the canon was breathtaking....so deep and also it has thousands of terrances which are farmed (they are about 1000 years old) and about 50% are used today compared to back in the day.
After getting back from the canon, we stayed another night in arequipa and today went and saw the local attractions like the santa catalina (add a org.pe) if u wanna know what it is =).
If i was to come to arequipa, i would of trekked to the canon instead of busing it and also climbed mt el misti, which overlooks the city. Its like the mt fuji of Peru, looks very similar. But i guess we only have a limited time on this little side trip , lucky to get even a week off!!!
Well i better go read some stuff and chill before the bus, this time we are going 1st class....so hopefully the seats can go all the way down. The bus from cusco to here was overnight too, but in normal class. Though even that was alot better then i thought it would be. I guess bus travel here is the normal long distance type of travel, compared to flying in australia.
hahaha oh yeah before i go, farkn funniest thing, last night chillin in the plaza we walked around found this casino, and inside they had the pokie machine "Cleopatra" LOLOL i was just laughing when i saw it, and of corse i had a few spins no feature though LOL. arhhhh u shoulda seen my face when i saw it...hehehehe so funny.
oh yeah also, they play way to much jack johnson here too ehhehe.
